"Stories and storytelling is one thing, imagination is another. With our minds we can go places; see things; touch and smell the world around us, and still find comfort in the story that is being told. Travel to sandy beaches and lush rainforests in Marooned, where secrets are hidden deep within the Earth, or go to a world where everything we know is on its head and survival is the only key to keep evil at bay."
After a couple of years writing plays, Christopher wanted to do something that was different, fun, and much more of a challenge. Novels seemed to be the answer. It seemed that writing a novel is easier, but nothing is easy really, and writing in a form and gunre that he had not done before meant that it was dificult from the start. Whilst at the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC), Christopher came up with his first novel 'Marooned'. It was meant to be something small but after the first few chapters he could tell that it was going to be a series. Not the best way to go into writing novels.
Christopher's attention turned to another idea which focused on putting reality and fiction together to make a story. 'An Enemy of the State' is written in the form of a diary, telling the story of a young man struggling to survive the camps of the Second World War and the Cold War. A piece with fact and fiction entwined to make a good story.
Although he was distracted by his studies, Christopher is determined to get both of these books done. While Marooned is on the desk feeling lost in the pile of creative ideas; Christopher has started working on his second novel 'An Enemy of the State' only a few years ago and is hoping to get the first draft of the book done by the end of next year. Christopher has lots of book ideas sitting on the table, but focusing on these two will give him a big boost and a starting point in creating a robust portfolio of creative work as writing takes time and good pieces of literature cannot be rushed.
As well as switching to novels Christopher has begun to develop a catalogue of collection books, these mainly showcase his pieces of poetry but may also include short stories as well. His first collection book 'Life In Words' is almost finished and should hopefully be published later this year, while his second collection of poems is just being created as the theme for this book is around the pandemic that is still ongoing around the world.
