The sun rises turning the sky blue, clouds float high up above.
Hills lie to the east while a river runs down the middle of the grassland.
A cave is close by, home to Bonnie Bear.
A brown bear, big, fat, and strong, who likes being alone.
Bonnie Bear slept all day.
Bonnie Bear slept all night.
Bonnie Bear liked to go fishing in the river.
Bonnie Bear liked to play down by the river.
One day Bonnie Bear was playing in the river;
Splash, splash, splash as she rolled around in the water.
Sammy Salmon came to say hello,
Bonnie Bear was happy for Sammy Salmon to join in her games.
Splash, splash, splash went Bonnie Bear.
Splash, splash, splash went Sammy Salmon.
Oh what joy it is to play in the cool water of the river.
It was fun to watch them play together.
Sammy Salmon jumped and splashed, making circles in the air.
And other fish wanted to join in their games.
Bonnie Bear played all day.
Bonnie Bear played til she was hungry.
Sammy Salmon went splish, splash, splosh through the waves.
Laughing as he dived up and over them.
Bonnie Bear started to chase him.
“Please do not eat me” said Sammy Salmon “I do not taste that nice”.
“But I like fat fresh fish” said Bonnie Bear.
“And I like staying alive” says Sammy Salmon.
Bonnie Bear chased him round and round.
Making tiny white bubbles on the top of the water.
Sammy Salmon swam up river.
Splashing water as he went.
Bonnie Bear wanted him.
Bonnie Bear could not catch him.
Sammy Salmon laughed as he swam.
Sammy Salmon jumped over the dam.
And he swam and swam and swam.
Bonnie Bear left the river sad, tired and hungry.
But knew that it was the best thing to do.
So she went home and went to bed.
