Early Life

About the Writer: Early Life

"Stories and storytelling is one thing, imagination is another. With our minds we can go places; see things; touch and smell the world around us, and still find comfort in the story that is being told. Travel to sandy beaches and lush rainforests in Marooned, where secrets are hidden deep within the Earth, or go to a world where everything we know is on its head and survival is the only key to keep evil at bay."

Christopher Greene (Alex Green) was born in Chatham, Kent, England on September 14th 1994. His early life was bombarded with challenges and obsticals right from the begining, his continuous trips in and out of hospital meant that life was tought. He had a great upbringing with his mum and stepdad; and had loving friends and family who helped him when it got tought.

Christopher grew up in an area known as the Medway Towns, a small group of towns that run near to the River Medway. It's not a picturesque place like the countryside of the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, but famous for the Chatham docks and Rochester Castle. As a child Christopher (Alex) spent most of his time in hospital due to a congenital heart condition, a condition that was fixed when he was seven, he also has a visual and hearing impairment which makes his life a challenge. School was difficult and changed quite often throughout his time in education; both at school and college. At the age of ten he moved to Tunbury School, where he was fascinated by history and english, something which later became entwined and planted the seeds for his career as a writer.

From the start, Christopher loved reading and writing, at a young age he would read stories by Enid Blyton and Charles Dickens, but at this stage he did not know that his love for books would spark a lifetime fascination of writing. That wasn't until much later on when he realised that it was something he was good at. Whilst at Robert Napier, Christopher started to experiment with poetry; monologues and short stories, all which made him want to expand his passion for writing. At the age of sixteen he left Robert Napier in search for adventure in the wider world, at first he went to Midkent College to study Business and then, later on, went to a specialist college for the blind (RNC) to do Information Technology. Writing, it seems, has stopped for the time being. The pen is on the table and the book is shut with empty pages waiting to be written.

In 2015 Christopher started a degree in digital media and advertising at Canterbury Christ Church University. It was then at this stage that he realised that all he wanted to do was write, and entertain, to young people and possibly adults across the world. In his second year at university he joined the Creative Writing Society, which drove his passion for writing even further. He completed his degree and graduated in 2018 and is is on an exciting career path in advertising and writing.
